Here's a little something that's making the rounds in email...
It has been scientifically proven that if we drink 1 liter of water
each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1
kilo of Escherichia coli (E. Coli) bacteria found in feces. Body
waste. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop.
However, we do not run that risk when drinking wine (or rum, whiskey,
beer or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification

For the past few months I've been doing research for a script I'm working on. While many of you have been immersed in the latest Romance/Thriller/Sci-Fi novel this summer I have been hip deep in CQB, HALO jumps, METT-T and developing a fine appreciation for Tactical Rifles M40 .308 sniper rifle - sweet.

The Mike passed this along so I'm passing it on to y'all.
I may even e:mail it to my honorable representatives in Washington since they are surely full of it:

Behold My Friend As You Walk By
As You Are Now So Once Was I
As I Am Now Soon You Must Be
Prepare For Death and Follow Me
This was on a tombstone in a colonial era cemetary in the front yard of the house I grew up in. Yeah - the front yard. It explains a lot about my family I've been told...The following are without a doubt - the best movies to watch on Halloween. Number one on the list is a must see - the title alone should have won an award!
1. Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things

Sorry to all for the late post - the dog ate my computer.
So - the third Project Greenlight has come to an end. Sort of. Well, not really. Even though Chris Moore says this is the end - low ratings on Bravo apparently - I say Nonsense! C'mon Chris ! Act as if ye have faith and faith shall be given to you. And read Vesta's and my most excellent suggestions.

Project Greenlight - In episode 8 "The Making of Feast" brings it down to the wire - two or three times actually. By this time, unless you are a heartless cad, you have got to be on John Gulager's side -
May 5 - Vesta
Here are my roungh notes reactions.
Part 8 (!)
Rough Assembly: the music is softer as John talks about his Mom and wishes she could be there...a nice moment and why do I suspect the last one.....

I have always maintained that people watch NASCAR races just to see if somebody crashes. True fans however assure me that no, they watch to cheer for their driver and to "will" him to the finish line. Hmm...NASCAR race...Project Greenlight...yeah, yeah I finally get it.
May 1 - Vesta
So Here we are almost at the end EPISODE 7 !!!!
How did we get here?

Project Greenlight - the chance of a lifetime? Or is it more like learning how to bend over while someone else drives...
Is there anything better than (safely) lurking on the "outside" while some poor bastard, hopelessly trapped on the "inside" self destucts right before your very eyes? Of course not! This is America! Join Vesta and I as we e:mail-bitch our way through another endlessly disasterous Project Greenlight.

The Pentagon originally said it would need 235 armored Humvees in Iraq. In reality, it needs 8,105 or thirty-five times the amount it predicted before the war.At the Red River Army Depot, the facility which repairs Humvees, hundreds of damaged vehicles which are desperately needed in Iraq
are just sitting around waiting to be repaired. According to officials at the repair facility there's no funding for repairs.

Last night, April 30, 2004, ABC's "Nightline" chose to do something both courageous and honorable. They devoted their entire broadcast to the men and women who have died in Iraq. They chose to pay tribute to these Americans by reading the names and showing the pictures of each
and every soldier who has died.

When I attended grade school (many, many moons ago),the first thing we did every morning was recite the Pledge of Allegiance. At some point, fifth grade I think, I decided that I didn't like the wording. In fact I found it somewhat offensive. I also didn't like someone else telling me where to place my loyalties.

“When Things Fall Apart , Heart Advice for Difficult Times (or what’s a process for….")
Musings on Meaning
As I read Pema Chodron’s When Things Fall Apart, I took notes of sorts, on little ‘sticky’ notes, and so I thought if I take these and go through the book again, with my own commentary, I’ld be able to construct a synthesis of sorts. In her introduction, she talks of her own process for making the book. Delving into boxes of notes. Lessons learned and lessons unlearned.

Everyone complains about the weather but nobody does anything about it.
Mark Twain
A meteorologist once told me that no one can accurately predict local weather more than 24 hours ahead. Think about it, as long as there have been humans we have looked to the skies and wondered, well about a lot of things, but mainly whether it was going to rain various substances on us, burn us to a crisp or freeze us to stone.

Everything, everything in war is barbaric . . . But the worst barbarity of war is that it forces men collectively to commit acts against which individually they would revolt with their whole being.
Ellen Key, 1916
War does not determine who is right - only who is left.

In response to Iraq's destruction of 16 missles, the Bush Administration had this to say, " Yeah, but...what if Saddam's lying? What if he's got hundreds of missles buried under ground? He's probably lying ya know. Saddam lies all the time..."
Well, words to that effect anyway. I don't know about you but I'm thinking Saddam is going to have a tough time 'completely dis-arming in a verifiable manner' if G-Dub keeps jumping up and down screaming, "Lier, lier...pants on fire..."

Al Gore's speech yesterday accomplished several things:
1. Reminded all of us what an intelligent and forward thinking leader Al Gore really is.
2. Reminded the democrats in Congress what the words integrity and backbone mean.
3. By default perhaps, allowed all of to hear exactly what the Administration thinks of it's citizens: In response to Gore's speech, the Administration stated that,..'At this point in time Al Gore is irrelevant.'
I guess that makes the rest of us invisible. Read the speech for yourself, make up your own mind.

This week the Senate Foreign Relations Committee chaired by the honorable Joseph Biden, is holding what looks to be the only hearings we are likely to get on whether or not the United States should invade Iraq. Apparently that old cliché, you hear what you want to hear, has become a motto to live by for the Senate. They have invited only those people who seem to think that waging war on Iraq is a good idea. Why? For the most part the members of the committee aren't exactly a booster club for the Administration's foreign policy.Congress has already told the Boeing Corporation to push its production of GPS satellite kits (they are what make the smart bombs…smart) for a target delivery date of September 30 and has passed emergency appropriations funds to pay for them. The Third Marine Expeditionary Force in California is preparing right now to have 20,000 Marines in the Iraq region by mid-October and the Air Force has been told to ready three expeditionary wings for the same time frame.

Remember that old saying: What if they started a war…and nobody showed up?
For hundred sixty seven Israeli soldiers apparently do. Back in January these patriotic men and women stood their moral ground and refused to serve in the occupied territories. Since then their cause has been gaining recognition and more than a little empathy.

Americans are by and large a prideful people, some of it well deserved…some not. But if I had to choose one aspect of American character that I am most proud of it would be the ability to see bullshit, smell bullshit and then call it for what it is.

Remember folks...the name of this category is Alternative Views. If you are uncomfortable with anything other than the politicaly correct flavour of the day or feel it is unpatriotic to criticize or even disagree with the Bush Administration than perhaps you should skip this and click on something like MSNBC® AKA: The Well Dressed Propaganda Station. On second thought, you are just the kind of person who should read this. Take a chance, they're only words...right? This little piece was forwarded to me and is attributed to Dennis Miller.

It's usually enlightening to look back at what people have said they are going to do and then verify whether or not they have actually carried out their stated intentions.

Any X-Files fans out there? Remember Mulder's poster, "I Want To Believe"? I've always liked that particular poster because it was so open. Granted the poster also depicted a flying saucer but it did not dictate what the saucer might represent. Broadly interpreted the poster could mean I want to belief in more - more life, more existence, more possibilities. The television show took a decidedly narrower view but it was after all a drama, meant to entertain for the most part but also, as any good show must do, meant to offer a possible viewpoint for consideration.

Watch out Washington, it's time for a view from the other side. I strongly urge the Bush administration to make sure their 'cabinets' are well stocked with ProzacTM and TumsTM this weekend...they're going to need it. Over two hundred national and local organizations are coming to town to protest, march, set up those unsightly tents and generally cause a ruckus. And my oh my - the timing couldn't be better. Welcome to Washington Prime Minister Sharon, and by the way...there's several thousand people out there in the park who would like to have a few words with you.

"The present model for physical life precludes any easy mixing of the living and the dead, any casual encounters between those in flesh and out of it as a common occurrence. This was not always the case, for at one time the dead and living mixed far more openly.
…Man gradually altered the focus of his consciousness, perceiving as real only those phenomena that fell within a particular range, bringing into actuality levels of physical experience to which he had been blind earlier, and gradually becoming opaque to other stimuli which he had once perceived clearly.
