We Remember Them

In the rising of the sun and in it's going down,
In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of Winter,
In the opening of buds and in the rebirth of Spring,
We remember them.

In the blueness of the sky and in the warmth of Summer,
In the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of Autumn,
In the beginning of the year and when it ends,
We remember them.

So as long as we live, they too shall live,
For they are now a part of us,
As we remember them.

Fly Baby, Fly!

Here's a big Hurrah and a Whoop, Whoop, Whoop for good measure to our own home town girl, Space Shuttle Discovery Commander Eileen Collins.

Rock And Roll, Girl. Rock And Roll.

Time Traveler Convention

This is no joke. As Vesta and myself both heard on NPR a few days ago, on the east campus courtyard of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, there will be a Time Travelers Convention held on May 7, 2005 with events starting at 8:00 PM. All future time travelers are invited along with the general public. However, you must RSVP by 11:59 Wednesday, May 04, 2005 in order to attend. (Sorry for the short notice) Of course, if you can time travel, it shouldn't be a problem! Go to the site immediately for further details.

CBS News: Strike Two

Congratulations to CBS for making the wrong decision....again.Producers of the CBS News program" 60 Minutes" announced this morning they will not air a show concerning Iraq and weapons of mass destruction (or lack thereof), stating that it would be "innappropriate" this close to the election.

Good call people. Here's an idea for a new tag line for them:

"News you need but we're to gun shy to give it to you."

Things To Come

For something new to do, I decided to learn how to make Flash movies. Cartoons to be more specific. I have been learning the program for a few weeks and should have something done in a few more weeks, so get yourself a flash player and check back in!

The End Must Be Near...

Apparently...Hell has frozen over

It's the Panthers and the Patriots goin to the Super Bowl!

Will WavingAlien survive?

GO YANKS !

These little town blues
Are melting away...

WavingAlien scoops Comedy Central!

On their broadcast of September 18th, Comedy Central's satirical news program "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" included a feature that described how the WMDs had finally been found--in Alabama! But loyal readers of WavingAlien already knew that, because "Wimdy's Found" was posted here on September 5th! On the outside chance you missed it, the story appears halfway down this page, or here's a handy link to "Wimdy's Found!" in the Politics section.

For Helen

We recently lost a sister, a friend, a mother, a daughter. She had traveled a dark path for a long time but now has found peace and the light.
We miss you" For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt in the sun? And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from it's restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered? Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing. And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb. And when the earth shall claim your limbs, Then shall you truely dance."

Welcome!!

We would like to welcome our newest member to the Waving Alien family - Ezra Michael, April 29, 2003 born in the year of the Black Sheep.

Happy! Happy Day!!

Welcome to this Reality Ezra!

World Wide Candlelight Vigil

Sunday, March 16 at 7PM citizens around the globe will be holding candlelight vigils for peace. To find out about the one nearest you, or to plan one in your own neighborhood, please visit Global Vigil. Hundreds have already been planned, but hundreds more are needed. TrueMajority, MoveOn.org, and the Win Without War coalition, together with Archbishop Desmond Tutu and many faith-based organizations, are calling this vigil, and we need your help.

Between The Headlines

The world does not revolve around Iraq. On this appropriately cold winter morning I have summarized a few short events that you probably won't see on the nightly national news, but are important none-the-less. Wondering what you might see if you skip the headlines? Look on.January 16th 2003 was an important date for the National Aeronautic and Space Administration as it marked the first time in nearly two years since a launch did not involve the International Space Station.

Happy New Year !!!

Another year down the tubes....so to speak. One would hope that we all fare better in 2003 and considering the year just past that shouldn't be too hard...

We here at Waving Alien had planned on doing our own little Top Ten list for 2002...unfortunately half of the Waving Alien extended family has spent most of their time with their head in the toilet this holiday season. It just didn't seem like a good POV to be creating from SO...We have created a list of 2002 reviews links for all our readers- there's truly something for everyone! Happy New Year and pass the dramamine.

Election Day

OK - here's the deal:
Either get off your lazy butt and take five lousey minutes out of your life and vote...
or prepare yourself to bend over and let the Republicans drive.

Nightland

Another new category? As if we didn't have enough! Being great fans of "The Twilight Zone" and "The Outer Limits", we decided we needed our own little place of comfort. Our own little hotel from hell, our own personal infirmary for the reality challenged.

Are You Ready For Some Football?

Today, The Mike is debuting a new weekly column under the sports category called, "They Still Call It Football." This week, he runs you through his predictions, hopes and, well, his dreams!

Personally, I think the Pats gave the Bills a good shot at a return to the big game for the ring! Of course, that is only my dream as well...

Carry on!

The Hal

First Anniversary

I didn't realize until a few days ago that Waving Alien's first anniversary has come and gone. You would have thought that I would have marked the calendar, planned special events, celebrated, or at the very least made mention of it on the official day. Alas, I haven't a clue when that was...I mark the official opening as when I decided WA had enough content to submit to search engines. That is to say, there were at least three or four items in each category. A few categories have been dropped, like Independent Film and Music, and a few have been added, like Future Shock and a humor category.

THANK YOU

Once again - my thanks to The Hal and The Mike for carrying on, for holding the bag, for picking up the pieces and making something of it.

But mostly I thank you both for trying to maintain a calm and steady flow when the seas have been so fretful and disturbed.

To my Dad:

We love you - we miss you and yes...you always did see the lake first.

Waving Alien Cascades

And The Hal said, "I am going to build a waterfall! And it will be good! And in this waterfall, I am going to build rocks! And they will be good, and hard, and this thing that I am building will not leak! And that will be good..."Yes, I said to myself. If I can build a house, or remodel a bathroom, or build kitchen cabinets, or make pottery, then I should be able to build rocks... and a waterfall to give the rocks a reason to exist. Water shall pour over them and become frothy and noisy and babble like water should while pouring over rocks...
