Massive Landscaping Photo Essay

New Photo Essay: Landscaping

Here is the long overdue photo update I have been threatening you with the past decade. This is a huge update. Plan on spending some relaxing time here seeing how the backyard has changed over the years. All the Cascade photo essay's show more pictures in detail, and the deck essay as well. This photo essay is more to show you how things have changed and the plantings have matured, as well as additional projects never documented yet such as the wishing well and walking garden. I would love to hear what you all think, good or bad, I can take it. E-mail me at The Hal. Click on the thumbnails to enlarge!.

New Photo Essay: The Lamp

What good is a nice new table without a nice new lamp? It's like buying a car with no tires. I started this table about two years ago. There's quite a story behind it if you care to know. I don't have the building process documented but I can tell you the quick version and then you can see that it badly needed a custom table lamp to go with it. And I did document the building of the lamp with photos. So read on if you're interested!

Photo Essay: Steps and Planters

The project: Planters And Steps

I finally realized it may be several months before I complete the new steps and planters that go to the top of the hill out back. After finishing the rough in of the bridge, half the steps and two new planters, I decided it was time for another photo essay. And besides, our satellite internet is down and this writing will keep me busy for a few days...

I think I'll Build A Bridge

Dead horseshoe pits.      The project: I think I'll build a bridge

This could be questionable timing (for this piece) due to the recent bridge collapse in Minneapolis, but never-the-less, I am building a bridge.

Stepping it up a notch...

New Photo Essay: Stepping It Up A Notch

The first three sets of photos are before, during and after the building process. Basically, I wanted to have a few steps curving around the back of the round deck, and then make a turn going uphill along the right side of the waterfall.

Resurrection: Gibson Melody Maker

When I was a child, I killed my guitar...

Actually, I wasn't a child when I did it. But it was over twenty-five years ago. What can I say? I was stupid. I had damage to my skull, I was... young. That pretty much explains it.

Old front      Now I'm better, and to prove it I resurrected my dead Melody Maker. Why not take a look at the before and after images? I'll be glad you did... Resurrection: Gibson Melody Maker

Flash Art

04.jpg      Ok, so I haven't been writing much lately. It's the summer thing you see. I spend almost the entire weekend outside unless it's raining. (I know I've mentioned that before.) However, I am working on other things, such as these cartoonish characters that I hope to use in some Flash movies... Click on the image to enlarge.

Waving Alien Productions Presents

Concept Tiki Man! Our resident artist has been at it again. Never one to be captured by the almost irresistible urge to relax on a day off, Halbert spent the day recreating a lifelike cement statue of the mysterious Tiki Man...Cement isn't exactly a modeling media I would recommend. In fact, it really sucks. However, it does lend a rather rough, prehistoric ambiance to your work. Why not click on the link and have a look at the Tiki Man press release? You'll be glad you did. Honest!      Tiki Man Re-discovered

The Waving Alien archeology staff has recently uncovered new information regarding the true story behind the Tiki Man. In an all out, no expenses barred attempt to bring you the truth, we have hired renowned artist and sculptor Billy Bob Halbert to recreate an astounding lifelike statue in honor of the no longer misunderstood Tiki Man.
While Mr. Halbert declined to appear on camera, he did allow us in his studio while he sculpted the Tiki Man. We have kindly provided the slides for your viewing convenience while you browse through a copy of the official press release. You can click on any image to get a bigger version of the photo.      We are also proud to announce that the remains of two other Tiki citizens have been discovered and we are in the process of negotiating with Halbert to bring those representations to you as well. One is a female...

Cascades Update: The Deck

Well, I finally got the deck addition done on the Waving Alien Cascades. The round deck, you remember right? This one?

Well, even if you never caught the previous Cascades updates, you should check this out if you want to see a really spiffy deck!

Massive Update 2: Wavingalien Cascades

The Bum Weekends are made for relaxing. Someday, I may learn that little known fact. However, at the rate I'm going, I doubt it. The new issue of the Waving Alien Cascades has just been uploaded... In the scheme of things, I am like a worker ant. I never know when to relax. I always thought that time off from work only meant that you can do work of your own without being paid. Makes for a lighter wallet, but in the long run is much more fulfilling than being paid. (Or more satisfying at the very least)

Massive Update: Waving Alien Cascades

The Bum Ok, so maybe it isn't massive. Hefty might better describe it. Either way, it's pretty big. I have at least two more updates to make to the waterfall section. Future ones will detail the new, upper section of falls and the new deck on the right side and front of the pond.

Waving Alien Cascades

Finally, after four or five months, phase one of Waving Alien Cascades is done. I know this is off subject for the site, but we're proud of what was accomplished.

The project: Waving Alien Cascades

The first phase of the Waving Alien Cascades is complete! I have failed to fully document the different stages of construction, but I'll kind of explain the process with the different photos. I must say, Tewa and I can be found almost every night, watching the sun set, out on the deck enjoying the soothing sound of the water fall, (and the sometimes irritating sound of the frogs).

Jr. Frog: Sex Education

Here's a little comic I made from the visiting frogs invading The Waving Alien Cascades...
How about a nice midnight swim Norman?

Who Is This Guy?

Another hard week carving rocks! The water fall is looking good. Although I don't know about this bum I caught trying to take a bath. If you want to take a look at the Waving Alien Cascades, there's some new shots of the progress I made this week. Believe it or not, I cut the size in half, and it's still rather large.
