Abstractals

Here's some more fractal image madness for you. I am still suffering from a nasty case of writers block. Although I am still writting music and doing some Apophysis work. These fractals are for the most part abstracts. I see some things in some of them, but most of them defy description for the most part. The one shown in the teaser though looks like a bird to me, a tortured bird that looks like it has flown through hell. Ergo, the "Hell Bird" title.

The titles are subjective of course. Below are Alien Skeleton, Blue Berry Bandit, Bubble Gum Go Boom and Copper Caper. I never was a real big fan of abstracts. But they are cool. If you stop and think about it, a lot of musical lyrics make little or no sense at all. I think you can say the same about abstracts.

Here's what the American Heritage Dictionary has to say:
ab·stract - adj. Abbr. abs. 1. Considered apart from concrete existence. 2. Not applied or practical; theoretical: 3. Difficult to understand; abstruse. 4. Thought of or stated without reference to a specific instance. 5. Impersonal, as in attitude or views. 6. Having an intellectual and affective artistic content that depends solely on intrinsic form rather than on narrative content or pictorial representation.

Here we have Curly Blue, Disk Dance, Double Vision and Fruffie. I happen to like pastels and bright colors in abstracts. I haven't messed to much with abstracts on background colors other than white and black. These are all recent one's done on white. (Except one at the bottom)

For those not familiar with Apophysis, the fractal program I use, you can use different plug ins, (variations) to give you different results in your renders. The disk shapes in the second fractal below are from a plug in. Believe me, I am far from an expert in Apophysis so I may not have explained that correctly, but that's basically the jist of it...

I haven't gone to far in depth with Apophysis yet. A lot of the time I simply let the program create random fractals. Once I find one I like, I try different random variations of that fractal adjusting things like gamma, intensity and zoom level. Sometimes changing the background color and using different color gradients.

The program is mathematical in nature and way beyond my comprehension. The fractals are somehow created by triangles which you can move around, resize, rotate and skew in shape. There are also many other adjustments you can make that do things, mathematical things... I hate math, I like to push buttons and tweak parameters... just simple.

Content is content. I usually try to display my wit and humor but even that eludes me at the moment. Kind of like how my wit eluded me when I had a bone pulled out of my head Tuesday morning. (The Dentist)

I asked him if he would shoot a little Novocaine around my ribs next time so it wouldn't hurt so much when he put his knee on my chest to get leverage to pull my tooth. He said the tooth was ready to fall right out but I think it was hanging on for dear life...
